It’s a phrase used by so many aspiring artists who strive for their goals, yet in Colby Stiltz case he was just that, born ready.
Colby Stiltz began his adventures in Hip Hop during his high school years in Maine, which is where he learned he had a special skill at controlling crowds and combining words that not only made the crowd nod their heads, it also made them laugh and smile.
Colby Stiltz quickly grasped every opportunity he could to better his skills as an Emcee throughout the Portland, Maine area.. Although music was making progress Colby Stiltz found himself at a crossroads in his life where he had to relocate back to his birth state of Vermont.
Within 3 months of his arrival in Vermont, Colby Stiltz began making a name for himself for his witty free styles and his stage bravado he brings with him everywhere. He quickly became acquainted with Vermont’s finest Emcees, DJ’s and Engineers and picked up where he left off in Maine. He then linked up Kyle Hoyt and the birth of an idea manifested. A.S.A.P Entertainment (a.social.awareness.project) and Colby Stiltz quickly began to bombard the city with promotions and events throughout the Burlington area.
In 2009 Colby Stiltz performed with the likes of Big Pooh of Little Brother, Terminology, The Beat nuts, Mickey Factz, J the S, Donny Goines, Gift of Gab, Statik Selektah and Craig G as well as releasing his first official Mixtape, “Showtime”.
Colby Stiltz took the momentum of 2009 directly into the new decade as he began the creation of his freshman album “Escaping Insanity”.
The biggest change of 2010 began as Colby Stiltz became dedicated to his profession and created music to show whatt he had.
Colby Stiltz linked up with Production Kingz production team out of Orlando, Florida for 9 out of the 10 beats for “Escaping Insanity”, with the final beat coming from Vermonter and 4 Word production front man, Nastee.
Colby Stiltz has no major name features and only has two local features on his album (Dakota of VT Union, Question the MC). This led to the ability to craft a solid and consistent body of work that has received heavy recognition and great reviews from many blogs and Music critics.
Since the release of “Escaping Insanity”, Colby Stiltz has begun to connect with many different musicians, venues, businesses and promotional groups across New England to form a solid platform of success.
Approaching 2012 Colby Stiltz released the project "higher learning vol 1. high school, high" (available for free Download) the original mixtape includes production from all over New England.
His first music video for "take it to the top" (prod. by spitz beats) was filmed (by Duane Peterson) and released shortly after. The music video premiere launched Colby's career to a new level and allowed him to tour the North Eastern part of the country.
As Colby Stiltz began to out grow the region, the need for expansion was necessary. Re-located in Orlando FL, Colby and has most recently linked up with even more promotional groups for the new release of his 2013 mixtape "I DON'T WANNA GROW UP" (February 2013)
Although Colby Stiltz is a skilled musician his strongest abilities come by way of his comfort on stage and his interaction with the listeners. He feels that he can speak to his listeners about similarities they share rather then bragging about what many listeners cannot relate to.
With the current success and progression of the Colby Stiltz movement, the platform that was built for success is beginning to shape into a beautiful future for the young New England Emcee
